Congratulations on your pregnancy

The first thing to do when you find yourself pregnant is to complete an online self-referral form found via the link below.

Your midwife will then contact you to arrange your first appointment. This is usually between 8-10 weeks of pregnancy.

If you are currently taking any regular medications we recommend making an appointment with your GP as soon as possible following a positive pregnancy test to review these.

We also recommend taking a daily dose of folic acid (400 micrograms ideally) at least three months before pregnancy and a dose of vitamin D – 10 micrograms. If you wish to take these as part of a pregnancy multivitamin tablet, make sure they don’t contain vitamin A (or retinol). These can be bought at any supermarket or pharmacy. Some women may require a higher dose of folic acid (5mg) and this can only be prescribed by a GP.
