Welcome to Essex House Medical Centre
In addition to 6 GPs, a Nurse Practitioner and an ECP, we are also a teaching practice training GP Registrars, Medical and Nursing students.
The practice was founded around 100 years ago, and was originally in Monmouth House, now part of Chard School. The present Medical Centre was developed in 1993, adjacent to the site of the old surgery and maintaining our town centre position. The surgery serves a catchment area of approximately 6/7 miles radius, where we aim to supply a high standard of health care and service for our community.
UPDATE – APPOINTMENTS
We are experiencing significant demand for our services. Please help us by being patient and being kind to our staff.
Due to the recent Government announcement and current National Emergency, we have to scale back our routine appointments in order to have staff available to redeploy to the Covid Vaccination Programme. Therefore we are currently not booking any routine appointments for the next 2 weeks.
We ask that you please only contact the surgery for an appointment if your request is an urgent medical problem.
Unfortunately if you already have a routine appointment booked with a query that can wait, we may contact you to postpone this.
We understand that this is extremely frustrating for patients however sadly our reception staff are receiving a lot of unpleasant phone calls due to not being able to offer patients future routine appointments. Please understand that this is a government national requirement and not at the choice of reception staff, they are here to help as best as they can in this unprecedented time.
You can still use our online consultation service for non-urgent enquiries and we will try to respond as soon as we can but within 72 hours.
We welcome your comments and suggestions about our services and how we can improve them. Please click on the link below to fill in our on-line form.
